Walk Jersey

Geraldine des Forges

Jersey Tourism Bronze Award Guide

Jersey, Channel Islands

I enjoy leading summer walks around my home parish of St Clement, once the centre of witchcraft. The tour takes in some of the most mysterious sites in the area and introduces walkers to some local facts and legends - hence its name 'Fact, Fiction and Folklore'.

I also lead a summer tour in St Helier, 'The Walk of the Condemned'. This tour looks at crime and punishment between the 16th and 19th centuries and follows the route once taken by condemned men on their way to the gallows.

My experience as a BBC Local Radio presenter/producer (1982-2000) has honed my presentation skills and informed my local history knowledge. After leaving the BBC, I became a part-time tour guide at a beautiful 12th Century manor house (www.samaresmanor.com) in my home parish of St Clement. I still enjoy working there each summer.

In 2006, I successfully undertook the Jersey Tourism Bronze Award and I began leading my own guided tours in the summer of 2007.

I aim to make my walks friendly, informative and fun.
